Grant-Funded Researcher (A)- Weed Science and Agronomy (Level A6 – A8) $98,574 to $105,611 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies. Full-time, fixed-term position up to 2.5 years (May 2027). We are seeking a motivated researcher specialising in weed science and agronomy to join our team addressing weed ecology and management in the Southern Grains Region (SGR). This opportunity addresses an investment for the grains industry made by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC). The overarching aim of the project is to better understand seed ecology of target weed species and determine how this could inform weed management programs on farms in this region.
The successful candidate will undertake both laboratory studies on weed seed ecology and field trials on management of target weeds in the southern region. The candidate will be responsible for undertaking this research at The University of Adelaide's Roseworthy campus. However, some of the field research may need to be undertaken in other cropping regions of South Australia. Key findings from the project will need to be communicated to growers, agronomists and grains industry in general.
To be successful in Level A, you will need: A PhD or equivalent experience in agricultural science, environmental science, or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in planning and undertaking agronomic and/or weed science research including plant sampling and assessment. Demonstrated experience in conducting statistical analysis of data from field and laboratory trials using widely applied software packages. Knowledge of dryland farming systems and an ability to interact with growers and agronomists to deliver outcomes for their benefit. A publication record in scholarly journals relative to opportunity.
