Selection Criteria - GraduatesSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
SC2 Demonstrated capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies and evaluate their effectiveness.
SC3 Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning and use data to inform teaching practice.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to establish collaborative relationships.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values.
Role - GraduatesThe primary focus of the range 1 classroom teacher is on developing skills and competencies to become an effective practitioner with structured support from experienced teachers.
Range 1 classroom teachers are accountable for the effective delivery of their programs, participating in school policy development and co-curricular activities.
Responsibilities - GraduatesCore responsibilities include:
Planning and implementing a range of teaching programs.Teaching curriculum to a specific year level.Monitoring and reporting student progress.Implementing strategies to achieve student learning outcomes.Maintaining records of attendance and progress.Implementing effective student management.Working with a mentor for professional development.Additional responsibilities may include:
Supervising student activities.Contributing to co-curricular programs.Who May Apply - GraduatesTo apply, candidates must:
Have graduated in the last 4 years.Not be employed as a teacher by the department at the time of commencement.Applicants must also be registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
