Location ProfileLocated in Melbourne's Western suburbs, Sunshine Special Developmental School (SDS) offers a unique and innovative learning environment for students aged from 5-18 years with moderate to severe Intellectual Disabilities. Sunshine SDS is a P-12 school and is organised around a Primary and Secondary Learning Centre Model. The school is home to a wide range of students from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
Sunshine SDS has an enrolment of 200 students and a staff compliment of: 4 Principal Class, 4 Leading Teachers, 2 Learning Specialist, 26.9 Teachers and 53 Education Support Staff.
Our teaching and learning programs are tailored to meet the individual needs of students, and include the use of the ABLES (Abilities Based Learning and Education Support). The teaching and learning of the school is driven by data that is used to establish priority learning goals for students and to report on progress. Learning is aligned to the Victorian Curriculum, with an emphasis on English, Communication, Mathematics, Personal and Social Capability.
Selection Criteria - GraduatesSC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.

Program Benefits - GraduatesThis position may attract an incentive payment of $5,650 (pre-tax) for the successful candidate who meets the eligibility criteria set out under conditions of employment. Role - GraduatesThe primary focus of the range 1 classroom teacher is on further developing skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support and guidance from teachers at higher levels.
Responsibilities - GraduatesCore responsibilities include:
Planning and implementing a range of teaching programs or courses of study.Teaching an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level.Monitoring, evaluating and reporting student progress in key learning areas.Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes.Maintaining records of class attendance and recording student progress.Implementing effective student management consistent with the school charter.Working with a mentor to participate in professional development planning, implementation and reflection.Who May Apply - GraduatesTo be eligible to apply for a position advertised through the Teacher Graduate Recruitment program, a teacher must:
