Under the supervision of the Coordinator Urban Planning, your tasks will include research and preparation of reports and recommendations for development applications, subdivisions, structure plans, local development plans, scheme amendments, local planning policies and other planning matters.Contributing to our growing community, your responsibilities will include stakeholder and public consultation on planning matters while also providing planning advice on Crown Land matters and assist with resolution of land tenure and encumbrance issues.You will be joining the team at an exciting time as the Town embarks on a culture of change with embracing of a wide range of new technologies, a large capitals works program, and a number of other projects that make the Town a desirable place to live and work.Minimum RequirementsDegree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning (or equivalent discipline)Knowledge of planning principles and processesAbility to read plans, interpret, analyse and communicate planning issues, policies and proceduresA demonstrated understanding of the principles of equal opportunity, occupational health and safety and other relevant legislation, and the willingness and capacity to implement or work within the relevant plans, policies and programsSome understanding of Western Australian planning, land, heritage and legislationWork Related RequirementsThe preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:National Police ClearanceRights to work in AustraliaMembership of/or eligibility for a membership, of a relevant professional bodyEmployee BenefitsIn addition to the salary our employees enjoy a range of benefits which may include:Housing AssistanceSix weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loadingRelocation assistance up to $5,000Wellness program (includes free gym membership, pool passes etc.)Training and professional development opportunitiesPaid parental leaveHow to ApplyApplicants are encouraged to apply online.If you are unable to apply online, please forward your application documents to Human Resources, Attention "Confidential Advertised Vacancy" either by:Post: PO Box 41, Port Hedland WA 6721Hand: Civic Centre, McGregor Street, Port Hedland WA 6721Applicants are advised to write a cover letter of no more than two (2) pages outlining how your skills, capabilities and experience will contribute to their success in this position.
