Join our Team as a Graduate Landscape Architect! (2-Year Temporary Contract)
At Sutherland Shire Council, we are passionate about designing spaces that enhance our community's quality of life. We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Graduate Landscape Architect to join our Place Design Team within our Asset Strategy & Delivery Unit on a 2 year contract, working on projects that include parks, playgrounds, town centres, and foreshores.

The Role: As a Graduate Landscape Architect, you'll assist in designing practical and environmentally sensitive projects that improve community spaces. You'll work closely with experienced landscape architects, civil engineers, and surveyors, supporting the creation of cost-effective design solutions and ensuring that projects meet both technical and environmental standards.
Key responsibilities include: Undertake site analysis, research, and precedent studies including investigating existing site conditions and compiling client and stakeholder requirements. Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design outcomes are in line with community needs and Council's standards. Developing concept designs for parks, playgrounds, streetscapes, and other public spaces. Prepare quality graphic and 3D visualisation material suitable for public exhibition and community consultation, using the Adobe suite and/or Lumion and Revit. Assisting in the preparation of detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD, providing technical advice and ensuring that all designs are compliant with statutory requirements and reflect best practices in landscape architecture. Assist in the review and implementation of Council's Public Domain Design and Technical Manuals to allow Council to maintain its excellent public domain outcomes. Your Profile: We're looking for a motivated individual who is excited about shaping public spaces and making a positive contribution to the community. You should have:
Tertiary qualifications or be in the final year of a Landscape Architecture degree. A Class C Driver's Licence. Foundational knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software (experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, Revit, and/or Civil3D would be a plus). A proactive approach to problem-solving, a passion for community-driven design, and excellent communication skills. Position Details: Salary Package: $76,424 - $81,008 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation. Hours of Work: Full-time, 35 hours per week with a 19-day month. Contract Length: 2 year temporary position.
