About the job Van der Meer Consulting is a multi-disciplinary Structural and Civil Consulting Engineering group with offices in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney. Our expanding company is currently seeking a qualified Graduate Engineer – Dilapidation to join our Sydney office.
Education and Experience: Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering Minimum 2 years' structural engineering experience gained within the industry. The Role: Assistance in preparation of reports Attend site to conduct a high-quality detailed inspection of conditions found on site. Maintaining regular and timely communication with the dilapidation team throughout the project life cycle. Review and editing of reports prior to issuing to clients. Producing plans used as supporting documentation within the reports. Providing support to other staff during the completion of projects. Establishing ongoing rapport with internal and external clients, including occupants and owners of properties being inspected during the duration of the dilapidation project. Skills and Personal Attributes: Ability to complete tasks in a timely and professional manner Must have excellent presentation and communication skills as these are essential for client liaison. Sound knowledge and application of Australian Standard design codes, relevant design and construction procedures and techniques. Previous experience with Dilapidation services is desirable. Basic experience in the use of software such as Microsoft Office. The ability to learn new software programs. To be able to communicate and work with draftspersons, engineers, architects, and design managers. Strong time management, organisational skills, and decision-making skills with an ability to manage different tasks and projects efficiently to agreed deadlines. Attention to detail and great reporting skills whilst able to work independently is essential. Be enthusiastic and committed to facilitating colleagues and client needs. Must demonstrate initiative and be a team player. Must have an Australian C Class Driver's License.
