Job Description - Graduate Administrative Assistant, Employer Relations (STU001727) Department Name: D0013 M Davies College of Business
Description: The Graduate Assistant – Employer Relations & Career Events will have the unique opportunity to gain skills in event coordination in a higher education environment, budgeting, financial management, and outcomes reporting, all while interacting with Symplicity, a prominent career center management system utilized by career centers on campuses across the nation.
DUTIES Coordinate all aspects of career fair planning, including creating the career fair in Symplicity (GatorHired), executing and communicating fair design, coordinating event set-up and tear-down as necessary, and sharing day-of-event details with relevant parties.Utilize Symplicity to oversee career fair registration and invoicing while assisting with the registration vetting process.Correspond with employers, utilizing professional communication skills, to assist with career fair-related inquiries, including registration, payment submission, and day-of-event details.Communicate logistical event needs to various on or off-campus entities, including UHD's Reservations and Parking Services, Chartwells, and off-campus catering partners.Enter data from employer and student evaluations and summarize results.Track and report relevant post-event data.Provide technical support to employers in their creation of GatorHired profiles, job postings, event registrations, and other online functions.Review and approve employer recruiter accounts in GatorHired, which may include researching company websites and employer relations policies.Exercise flexibility by cross-functioning in special events, on-campus recruiting, marketing, and various customer service roles in the Career Center office.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills for communicating with diverse populations of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and employers.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for basic correspondence, report writing, and creation of presentations.Ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines.Ability to work some early evenings and weekends.Ability to participate in professional development activities.Ability to work an average of 20 hours a week for nine months, with a review at the end of each year.QUALIFICATIONS Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education prior to start date.Enrollment in the graduate degree program at the University of Houston-Downtown.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in coordinating small or large-scale events.Experience with design software programs such as Canvas or Adobe InDesign.About University of Houston Downtown The second-largest university in Houston, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is a comprehensive, four-year, urban university in the heart of downtown.
