Graduate Accountant Position Description PD-Graduate-Accountant-30.4.24.pdf(PDF, 245KB) We are seeking a talented Graduate Accountant to join our finance team and contribute to the success and growth of Berrigan Shire Council. As the Graduate Accountant you will work alongside your fellow Finance Team members to assist with the delivery of quality financial and accounting functions to meet Council and legislative requirements. The role involves contributing to all accounting functions including financial regulatory reporting, rates and revenue, payroll, and procurement. As a valued employee at Berrigan Shire Council, you will be given the opportunity to enhance your accounting skills and development an in depth knowledge of local government. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with accounting standards Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation Manage the Council's investment portfolio and ensure cash flow management Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors Stay updated on financial regulations and best practices REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or substantial completion Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of accounting Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and broad understanding of accounting software Knowledge of Accounting Standards and Legislation BENEFITS: Support for ongoing study or pursuing further qualifications like CPA Full-time position with a 70-hour, 9-day fortnight schedule A dynamic environment that values willingness to learn and grow This position is full time, classified at Band 10 Entry Level under Council's salary structure between $65,505.08 and $71,400.06 per annum, plus 11% statutory superannuation. Conditions are in accordance with Local Government (State) Award 2023.
