JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Parliament of Western Australia is looking for a highly motivated, proactive Graduate Accountant to join our team within the Parliamentary Services Department. This role offers a unique opportunity for a recent accounting graduate (or near completion) with an interest in systems, strong IT and interpersonal skills to gain hands-on experience, solid accounting skills integrated with system administration in a supportive environment.
About the Role:
In this role, you will provide financial support to ensure efficient, compliant, and effective management of departmental resources. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include system administration for the financial software (Technology 1), performing balance sheet reconciliations, supporting various financial projects, and providing essential operational assistance to the finance team. You'll work in a collaborative environment alongside skilled professionals, building valuable knowledge in system administration and financial management.
In this position, you will work closely with the Chief Finance Officer and senior finance leaders, benefiting from one-on-one mentoring and direct exposure to financial operations and decision-making processes. This is a rare opportunity that allows you to develop your skills in an immersive, focused learning environment that prioritizes individualized guidance.
About You:
You are an enthusiastic and adaptable recent graduate (or near completion) in accounting, with strong Excel skills and a proactive attitude. You will have solid communication skills and eagerness to learn making you an ideal fit for our team.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential:
Degree level or substantial completion of a qualification in accounting
A strong interest in Financial Systems
Keen attitude to learn
Computer or IT familiarity or knowledge
Good knowledge of spreadsheet skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable:
Progress towards CPA, ICA, or IPA Professional Accountant status
