ADD VALUE - THE ROLE In your role you will contribute to important community outcomes and making a real impact for Singleton. The natural diversity of your role means that every day will be different. The Grader Operator is responsible for operating a grader for the purpose of the maintenance and construction of roads and drainage assets, or other associated civil infrastructure of Singleton Local Government Area's Roads.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertake tasks associated with maintenance and construction of roads, drainage and other civil infrastructure including earthworks, concrete, pipe laying, bitumen, vegetation work and labouring. Interpret engineering design plans and provide set out and level control of works on allocated projects. Select, modify and regularly inspect traffic control plans (TCPs) to ensure that they meet set specifications and ensure safe management of traffic through and past the worksite, Set up works (with the support of the supervisor) to ensure expectations, including work health and safety, quality, environment and project objectives are clearly communicated and understood. Provide direction and support to team members when the supervisor is absent. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA Solid working knowledge of and experience in civil road construction and maintenance techniques and the operation of road construction plant. Competency operating a Grader as well as plant and vehicles used in the civil road construction and maintenance including but not limited to: Excavator, Skid Steer, Backhoe, Loader. Accreditation in traffic control including traffic controller, implement traffic control plans and Prepare Work Zone Management Plan or willingness to obtain. A minimum of a current HR licence, along with a willingness to obtain a HC licence as supported under Council's Learning and Development Protocol. Certificate III Civil Construction (Road Construction & Maintenance) or willing to complete within first 12 months of employment as supported under Council's Learning and Development Protocol. DESIRABLE CRITERIA Working knowledge of local government civil works operations. Previous experience working as a Grader Operator or an experienced Plant Operator looking to take a step up into a grader role. Dogging Licence This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 76 hours per fortnight on a team-based 9-day fortnight.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 7 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $2376 - $2673 per fortnight plus superannuation.
