Job description:Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Social Workers to work primarly within the newly established Women's Mental Health Unit at Ward 7 at Northern Hospital, Epping.
About Northern Health:
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital.
In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
This role requires an experienced and enthusiastic Grade 2 Social Worker with a commitment to excellence in the provision of high quality, evidence-based and family-inclusive care.
The successful applicant will work closely within a multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with Social Workers across the three adult mental health inpatient units located at the Northern Hospital Epping.
This role is responsible for:
Providing high quality Social Work assessments and interventions to consumers and their families and/or carers in an inpatient setting.
Working closely and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, sharing Social Work expertise and perspectives to support optimal care delivery in addressing the needs of consumers and their families/carers.
Developing and facilitating group programs and implementing new initiatives within the team.
Assisting in building a positive, safe, supportive culture and environment for both consumers and members of staff.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Qualification in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the AASW and a minimum of two years post-qualification experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Expertise in responding to the needs of women experiencing acute mental health concerns, inclusive of expertise in trauma-informed care, responding to family violence and addressing the needs of families/carers, including dependent children.
Proven ability in the provision of high-standard, recovery-oriented social work practice, inclusive of working with individuals, family/carers and groups .
