About the Role: We are seeking the Max-Term placement of a Government Relations Coordinator based in ACT, Barton.
Purpose of the Role: This role will contribute to fighting for social justice in Australia by:
Empowering people within The Salvation Army (TSA) to understand the political processes in Australia.Supporting advocacy for and influencing decision-makers to advance social service delivery and social justice policy.Using the TSA's expertise, experience, and faith to develop sound policy positions to obtain outcomes.Key Roles and Responsibilities: Government Relations Policy Development Contribute to the national strategy for Government Relations that promotes the aims of The Salvation Army.Conduct research into government relations policy theory and issues.Provide expert advice regarding government policy, advocacy, and developments in specialist sectors including social, political, and economic developments affecting these sectors.Assist service delivery areas to operationalize national policy into practice.Engage with stakeholders and service delivery teams to ensure TSA communications with Government are informed by frontline service delivery experience.Facilitate and manage a comprehensive CRM database to capture all relevant government relations communications, across all divisions and within THQ.Draft relevant communications, upon request of HoD, to politicians and their key support and advisory staff.Secure meetings with MPs at the request of Head of Government Relations.Advocacy Contribute to the development of a prioritized advocacy strategy that is consistent with The Salvation Army mission and values and promotes social justice.Contribute to the development and implementation of a framework that supports effective political advocacy across Australia.Assist in specific political campaigns aligned to The Salvation Army mission and values.Work closely with the Policy and Advocacy team.Engagement and Influence in Public Policy Debate Maintain existing contacts and relationships to contribute to policy debate.Work closely with The Salvation Army Policy and Advocacy team to ensure specialist policy expertise is available to influence government decision-making and, when required, represent The Salvation Army in sector and government bodies.Ensure that The Salvation Army is aware of developments in the specialist sectors we operate in as well as social, political, and economic developments affecting these sectors.Requirements for the Role: National Police Check.Valid driver's License.Why Work for Us: NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax-free) plus meals and entertainment benefits.Flexible working conditions.Paid parental leave.Financial, retail, and lifestyle discounts and benefits.Employee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling service.Opportunity for career development.An inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate, and professional team members.Positively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contribution. #J-18808-Ljbffr
