From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.About the Role: We are seeking the Max-Term placement of a Government Relations Coordinator based in ACT, Barton Purpose of the Role: This role will contribute to fight for social justice in Australia by:Empowering people within The Salvation Army (TSA) to understand the political processes in AustraliaSupporting advocating for and influencing decision-makers to advance social service delivery and social justice policy; andUsing the TSA's expertise, experience and faith to develop sound policy positions to obtain outcomes.Key Roles and Responsibilities:Government Relations Policy DevelopmentContribute to the national strategy for Government Relations that promotes the aims of The Salvation ArmyConduct research into government relations policy theory and issuesProvide expert advice in relation to government policy and advocacy and developments in specialist sectors including the social, political and economic developments affecting these sectorsAssist service delivery areas to operationalize national policy into practiceEngagement with stakeholders and service delivery teams to ensure TSA communications with Government are informed by frontline service delivery experienceFacilitate and manage a comprehensive CRM database to capture all relevant government relations communications, across all divisions and within THQ.Draft relevant communications, upon request of HoD, to politicians and their key support and advisory staffSecure meetings with MP's at the request of Head of Government Relations.AdvocacyContribute to the development of a prioritised advocacy strategy that is consistent with The Salvation Army mission and values and promotes social justice.Contribute to the development and implementation of a framework that supports effective political advocacy across AustraliaAssist unspecific political campaigns aligned to The Salvation Army mission and valuesWork closely with Policy and Advocacy team.Engagement and influence in public policy debateMaintain existing contacts and relationships to contribute to policy debate Work closely with The Salvation Army Policy and Advocacy team to ensure specialist policy expertise is available to influence government decision making and when required represent The Salvation Army in sector and government bodiesEnsure that The Salvation Army is across developments in the specialist sectors we operate in as well as social, political and economic developments affecting these sectorsRequirements for the role: National Police CheckValid drivers LicenseWhy work for Us:NFP salary packaging ($15,900 tax free) plus meals and entertainment benefitsFlexible working conditionsPaid parental leaveFinancial, retail and lifestyle discounts and benefitsEmployee Assistance Program - Independent confidential counselling serviceOpportunity for career developmentAn inclusive culture of dedicated, passionate and professional team membersPositively supporting and impacting the lives of others through your career contribution
