As a Government Relations and Media Analyst at the ABA, you will be part of a high-performing team focused on proactively monitoring, executing and developing engagement plans across banking and economy-wide issues. Your work will help inform the ABA's advocacy initiatives with politicians, government and the media.
This role reports to the Director, Government Relations. What will you be doing? Providing the Association with knowledge, understanding and insight into the Australian political and media landscape to inform Corporate Affairs initiatives.Horizon scanning for new and emerging political, media and public policy risks, pivoting as required to support the key tasks of the day.Assisting with the drafting of media materials including Q&A's, media responses, briefing notes, and fielding enquiries on occasions.Creating and maintaining distribution and stakeholder channels covering media and government.Assisting with the development of content for the ABA's social media and digital channels.Helping coordinate internal reporting on government relations, media and wider Corporate Affairs team requirements.Helping execute targeted advocacy campaigns in support of Corporate Affairs team strategy and objectives, including developing materials in advance of anticipated milestones.Developing and maintaining a healthy internal and external network of contacts to ensure connectivity with a broad range of relevant political, parliamentary, media, and governmental stakeholders in accordance with agreed planning.Assisting senior ABA representatives at public events, including the provision of succinct updates on current developments, for example around press conferences or Parliamentary inquiries.Support with MP correspondence, drafting communications documents and PowerPoint presentations.What we're looking for: Strong interest in politics and external relations - knowledge of how Australian public policy is formed and an understanding of the workings of Parliament.Awareness of the current media landscape and communication industry trends.Sound stakeholder management skills both internally and externally, acting with discretion and understanding the wide variety of sectors that the ABA engages with.Strong capabilities in project and process management.Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as experience with Excel and PowerPoint.Proactive team player and alignment with the ABA values.Skills that will help you in the role: Experience of political monitoring and understanding of the legislative process.Experience of working in a fast-paced professional communications environment.How to apply Does this sound like you?
