Working within Wesley Mission's Advocacy & Government Relations team, this role will lead strategic government relations initiatives for Wesley Mission by developing and improving interaction with all levels of Government to further advocacy priorities.

As the Government Relations Advisor, you will play a crucial role in developing, coordinating, and implementing government relations strategies and activities to support Wesley Mission's advocacy goals and service needs.
Based in Sydney CBD, you will work closely with the Advocacy and Government Relations team, ensuring alignment with Wesley Mission's vision, mission and 2028 strategic plan.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement government relations strategies aligned with Wesley Mission's advocacy and campaign goalsSupport team members and key leaders in executing government relations plans with measurable outcomesProvide expert guidance on government relations opportunities and manage crises effectivelyAnalyse and report on government relations outcomes to review strategy effectivenessCoordinate the efforts of specialist external contractors to assist with key campaignsProactively analyse government decision-making processes and legislative developmentsProvide government relations support across the organisation, offering advice and assistance as requiredDevelop and maintain relationships with key government officials and stakeholdersIncrease transparency, consistency, and strategy around government relations activities across the organisation.Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experienceMinimum 6 years of experience in government relations or related fieldStrategic thinking and analytical skills with the ability to identify government relations opportunitiesExperience in developing networks and partnerships with key stakeholdersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsUnderstanding of policy, media, and government-related campaign coordinationAbility to work with and engage a wide variety of internal and external stakeholdersExperience in using digital tools for government relations and advocacyAbility to open doors in governmentUnderstanding of the ethos and structures of the Uniting Church.Apply now Please submit a copy of your CV/résumé and a cover letter addressing all the selection criteria.
