Overview:
The Health Services Programs Branch is responsible for a range of programs that focus on end-of-life care, including the planning, design, delivery and monitoring of a range of projects and initiatives in planning for future care, and improved access to palliative care in aged care and in the community. The Branch has responsibility for Advance Care Planning (ACP) strategies, and oversight of the Advance Care Directive (ACD) Act.
The Principal Project Officer is accountable to the Program Manager, End of Life Care, Health Services Programs (HSP) for the delivery of ACP and ACD activities led by the Department for Health and Wellbeing in South Australia, and support to the palliative care projects, and other areas of activity of the HSP Branch.
The Principal Project Officer will:
Contribute to the increased understanding and awareness of ACP and ACDs and work on policies and strategies that aim to support education, uptake, completion, identification and management of ACPs and ACDs in South Australia, across sectors and the general public. Support delivery of palliative care, end of life and veteran health projects of responsibility of the HSP Branch and in collaboration with Local Health Networks, other service providers and stakeholders. Undertake critical analysis of data and information to support evidence-based decision-making and proactively evaluate and monitor projects to identify issues and barriers, undertaking assurance and review activities to ensure ongoing project and policy improvements. Form part of a pool of people to support the Voluntary Assisted Dying Operations team process permit applications during periods of peak workload. Work in partnership with the Program Manager, End of Life Care, Health Services Programs, as well as the leadership team of the Health Services Programs Branch to contribute to the achievement of key program goals and objectives. Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.

Criminal History Screening Requirement:
A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment). Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact).
SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
