WorkPac is currently in search of an Advisor - Government Approvals to join our esteemed client's team, based in Perth.
Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets.
These assets include a world-class, integrated network of 15 iron ore mines, four port facilities, a 1,700-kilometre rail network and related infrastructure.
Rio Tinto is expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next-generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety, and environmental performance.
About the Role:
This position is Monday to Friday for a 1-to-2-year duration.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the team in obtaining approvals under environmental and mining laws (Environmental Protection Act, Rights in Water and Irrigation Act, Mining Act).
Collaborate with Business Partners and Consultants to collect key information needed for approval submissions.
Prepare and submit detailed approval documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
Engage with government agencies and participate in meetings to help secure approvals.
Provide advice on regulatory approvals to internal teams in operations and development.
Manage a high volume of tasks and ensure deadlines are met in a fast-paced environment.
Ensure all activities comply with relevant environmental legislation and regulations.
Skills and Experience:

Strong understanding of environmental and mining legislation and regulatory requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience working collaboratively and engaging with regulators.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Experience in environmental approvals or a related field is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel.
