What you will be doing:The Government and Media Relations Manager will play a pivotal role in working with our Chief Marketing and Executive Officer in shaping and delivering our advocacy, communications, and public relations strategies. This role is responsible for building and nurturing strong relationships with government stakeholders (Federal and State levels), media outlets, and other key external partners to ensure our mission, strategic objectives and community views are well-represented and advanced.
This is a brand-new role offering an opportunity for you to shape our approach to advocacy. The role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra.
Key responsibilities in this role will include:Develop and implement proactive strategies to effectively engage and promote Amplify and our Community's voice with politicians, government agencies, and media outlets.Present Policy positions representing our communities' views in compelling and digestible formats.Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with politicians and journalists.Represent Amplify in meetings, forums, and events with government officials.Serve as the primary media contact for the organisation.Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment and integration of external relations activities with broader marketing messaging and Amplify's overall goals.The skills and experiences we are looking for:Track record of success in government and media relations, advocacy, or public affairs, preferably achieved within a corporate environment.Proven experience in building and maintaining high-level government and media relationships, with existing connections and relationships.Strong understanding of government processes, media landscapes, and public policy issues relevant to Amplify.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and information to diverse audiences.The ability to work independently whilst remaining a highly collaborative team player with a proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.Why work for us:It's exciting, busy, a bit crazy at times, but incredibly rewarding being part of the foundational stages of a small organisation set to make a big impact.
