About the role
The Governance Specialist will play a pivotal role in strengthening SA Water's Corporate Governance function. This position will provide independent governance advice and insights to the Executive Leadership Team, Senior Management and Leaders, ensuring the effectiveness of governance practices and internal control processes to ensure the continual success of the organisation.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
Ensure adherence to all legal and organisational obligations, maintaining the integrity of the Corporate Compliance Framework.
Implement and improve SA Water's Governance Framework, identifying opportunities for system enhancements and providing recommendations to improve business effectiveness.
Contribute to the creation of efficient governance frameworks, leading corporate governance functions and providing support to various business units.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and AuditSA (previously known as the Auditor-General's Department) and assisting management in achieving strategic objectives.
Your success in this role will come from:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strategic and conceptual thinking with sound decision-making abilities.
Ability to navigate complex political and legislative environments with minimal direction.
Relevant experience in governance or related fields.
Qualifications in law, accounting, public policy, or a related discipline (Desirable)
Knowledge of governance practices in large organisations and public sector contexts (Desirable)
