About the Department & Roles
Our client, a federal department enables access to quality skills, training and employment to support Australians find secure work in fair, productive and safe workplaces - supporting individuals, businesses and our nation to prosper.
The First Nations and Inclusion Branch at DEWR is seeking to engage 3x contractors (mix of APS6 and EL1) to assist the Branch in managing and delivering a number of projects and managing procurement of services for the Branch.
The candidates will be working with the Branch to deliver a number of key projects. It is planned that one contractor will work as the overarching project manager who will work with Branch executive in coordinating plans and assisting with the Branch overall deliverables. This contractor will also coordinate the overall procurement for the Branch, with input from sections. Another contractor will project manage the Theory of Change and Program logic work for the Policy team and the third contractor will project manage work around Evaluation, Governance mapping and Stakeholder engagement work for the Partnership team.
The candidates will need to have the following essential attributes: Ability to work independently, being a self-starter. Previous project management experience, preferably outside information technology (IT) delivery. Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written. Ability to plan and drive project(s) and report to management the status of deliverables, issues, and options for solutions. Ability to work across departmental hierarchy and with external stakeholders. Ability to shape and influence thinking and to consolidate the work being progressed on various projects. The following attributes are also desirable: Commonwealth Government experience is beneficial. Experience in work around governance mapping and procurement. Knowledge and understanding of Government's Closing the Gap agenda. Background in working in other programs with First Nations' focus. Canberra based candidates are preferred but candidates from other major capital cities will be considered if they possess the attributes being sought.
