The key duties of the position include: The RoleThe Directorate of Navy Governance is seeking an EL 1 Policy Officer who will play a key role in the ongoing development of Navy's policy and governance documentation as hosted in the digital Navy Library (N Library). The N Library is Navy's knowledge repository containing Navy's policy, doctrine, frameworks, systems of management, orders, processes, instructions and procedures that facilitate the achievement of the Navy Mission. The EL 1 Policy Officer significantly contributes to the harmonisation of N Library content across Navy to ensure the maintenance of a coherent policy and governance structure that facilitates the achievement of the Navy Mission.
Applicants are requested to demonstrate against the following:
Analyse complex Navy policy issues and develop solutions that comply with the Navy accountabilities framework and implement these solutions within the N Library publications.Review, analyse and draft Navy policy, frameworks and systems of management to ensure their alignment with Navy's accountability framework and N Library publishing standards.Assist the SO1 N Library with reviewing and analysing Configuration Control Board documentation, including assisting with the resolution of any conflicts over publication content.Maintain N Library governance documentation in accordance with N Library standards.Manage and maintain the N Library list of Defence policy changes.Provide advice to N Library stakeholders and N Library staff to ensure that Navy's policy requirements in relation to N Library operations are met.Be the N Library expert on the Navy Seaworthiness System of Management and its integration with N Library content.Represent SO1 N Library at the Navy Seaworthiness Working Group.Develop an extensive understanding of Navy, its functional architecture and governance model and how it interacts within the One Defence model.About our TeamWorking to the Director Navy Governance, you are part of the team that is embedded in a dynamic environment, supporting Navy outcomes. The Directorate of Navy Governance brings together a range of previously disparate functions; business planning and reporting, risk management, compliance and assurance, policy, the N Library, and the Lessons Program. The Directorate is charged with strengthening Navy's governance arrangements noting the significant challenges outlined in the Defence Strategic Review (DSR). You will be part of the N Library team which currently consists of a blended workforce of ADF and APS.
