About the Catholic Education Office The Catholic Education Office (CEO) provides corporate services to the CECG system of schools and ELCs. Service Areas include Education and Performance Improvement, Catholic Identity, School and Family Services, Strategy and Special Projects, Finance and Infrastructure, Information and Communication Technology and People and Culture.
About the Role The Governance Officer is part of the Governance team that is led by the General Counsel, Governance, Risk and Policy Manager. The team support best practice governance and ensure appropriate polices and frameworks are in place to support sound and transparent decision making, strengthen organisation resilience and provide high quality professional governance support to senior employees of the Catholic Education Office, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn (CECG) and CECG schools to assist them to discharge their duties in a transparent, lawful and accountable manner.

Assist in the implementation and review of key governance initiatives, including the day-to-day management of the school governance sites to ensure that legislative requirements are met (including governance requirements under ACT and NSW Education Legislation, ACNC etc.) Assist the Governance and Policy Advisor and/or the Company Secretary in the preparation of briefings, papers and reports. Assist the Governance and Policy Advisor to provide support and advice to to schools and the executive on corporate governance principles. Provide day to day support to schools and staff in relation to the conflict-of-interest procedure and registers and the Delegation of Authority instrument. Promote and support organisational initiatives and best practice governance polices, frameworks and processes, and the integration of these into key business processes. Qualifications Tertiary or relevant qualifications is desirable but not essential, however previous experience in corporate governance is desirable. Current working with children registration/clearance. Selection Criteria Excellent communication skills including written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others and influence positive change. High level organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Professional experience and working knowledge with computer software packages including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
