About the Job: A problem isn't truly solved until it's solved for all. That's why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
The 3rd Party Data Center (3PDC) team within Google Data Centers (GDC) leads data center operations in facilities built by third-parties. These include facilities built to our specs and fully operated by Google (e.g. Jengas), facilities built to meet our SLAs and operated jointly by Google and Colocation providers (e.g., MiniClusters, Edge, nGP, GCVE, and others).
In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of critical systems within third-party data centers, responding to incidents, leading improvement projects, and contributing to operational excellence.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Responsibilities: Lead technical projects, such as those involving Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). This includes developing project scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation, as well as managing project execution to ensure timely delivery and quality. Respond to and resolve incidents related to critical infrastructure, including BMS and EPMS systems. This may involve troubleshooting, coordinating with vendors, and implementing preventative measures. Collect and analyze operational data, including incident reports and system performance metrics, to identify trends and drive process improvements. Develop dashboards and visualizations to monitor system health, identify optimization opportunities, and make data-backed recommendations to enhance operational efficiency. We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the users we serve, creating a culture of belonging, and providing an equal employment opportunity regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding), expecting or parents-to-be, criminal histories consistent with legal requirements, or any other basis protected by law.
