The Opportunity Join an exciting, cohesive team of professionals at Goal Group, where we seek to provide innovative and impactful solutions to the Defence sector. We are providing an opportunity for a highly skilled Cost Analyst to play a pivotal role in preparing cost estimates, financial models, and pricing strategies that drive competitive and compliant bid submissions and support the delivery of Defence programs. In this dynamic role, you will contribute to ongoing cost analysis and risk management of contracts, working closely with our team to align cost structures with ASDEFCON standards. This is a great opportunity to provide critical insights into cost risks and opportunities, shaping success for both our clients and our organisation.

Cost Analysis : Analyse labour, material, equipment, and contingency costs, ensuring alignment with ASDEFCON and Defence contracting practices. Data Validation : Review historical data, benchmarks, and market trends to validate cost assumptions. Cost Estimation : Develop accurate, detailed cost estimates for all Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) elements. Variance Analysis : Prepare cost variance analyses to identify potential risks and provide corrective recommendations. Collaboration : Work with engineers, technical teams, and procurement specialists to validate material and service cost inputs. Pricing Strategy : Assist in formulating a competitive and compliant pricing strategy for tenders. Budget Management : Prepare budget allocations and financial breakdowns for recurring and task-based services, ensuring budget compliance. Risk Management : Identify cost-related risks and provide recommendations for contingencies, working with project teams to mitigate risks. Reporting : Prepare cost reports, dashboards, and summaries for internal stakeholders. Documentation : Maintain accurate documentation and version control for cost models and supporting files. Stakeholder Engagement : Liaise with project managers, procurement teams, engineers, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to gather and verify cost data. Bid Support : Act as the central point of contact for cost-related queries during bid preparation, support the preparation of financial sections of the bid document, and ensure alignment with Defence policies. Final Review : Conduct final reviews of all cost components to ensure accuracy and consistency before submission. Post-Submission Support : Provide post-submission support by addressing cost-related queries or clarifications requested by the tender evaluation team. About You Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. Solid current or recent experience in cost estimation, financial analysis, and/or bid preparation in the Defence industry. Demonstrated experience working on complex tenders or projects valued over $10 million. Familiarity with tools such as MS Excel, cost estimation software, and ERP systems. Certification in cost estimation or project management (e.g., AACE, PMP) is desirable. Understanding of ASDEFCON standards and Australian Defence procurement processes.
