The Opportunity We're looking for a visionary Global Lead, Corporate & Internal Communications to drive a holistic, global communications strategy and engage with internal teams as we explore the future of energy and infrastructure. You will be at the heart of our transition towards a sustainable, resilient future, influencing how we communicate our sustainability, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives across the business. This role can be based out of Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.
As the Global Lead, Corporate & Internal Communications, you will be the architect of our global internal communications framework. You will be pivotal in ensuring our messaging aligns with strategic business goals, including Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) communications. Your leadership will enable our entire global team to feel connected, informed, and empowered.
Your key responsibilities will include: Strategic Leadership: Drive SMEC's global internal communications framework, aligning it with our business objectives and purpose. Ensure our communications reflect our commitment to sustainability, ESG, and CSR.End-to-End Project Management: Lead and execute global communication initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered on time and achieve the desired impact.Content Creation: Develop powerful, engaging internal communications, aligning them with our external employer brand and positioning.Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong, trusted partnerships with senior leaders and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and impactful outcomes.Internal Events: Lead the strategy, execution, and reporting of key internal events, including our Global Townhalls, to inspire and connect employees worldwide.Team Leadership: Empower, mentor, and lead a high-performing team, fostering their development and ensuring their success.Reporting to the Global Marketing and Communications Director you will work in a team of marketing and communications specialists, collaborating closely with the Global Lead, Brand and Digital and Global Director Marketing, ensuring brand consistency and employer experience are exceptional touch points.
You'll work across all functions of the business, managing multiple deadlines and will be responsible for driving sector specific internal communications, and strong stakeholder relationship skills will underpin your success in this role.

The ideal applicant will have: Proven ability to create and implement strategic communications, perform in a fast-paced environment and provide clear reporting on ROI.Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management - you will be a skilled and confident communicator able to connect with stakeholders across the global business, both face to face and digitally/via VC.Exceptional project management and organisational skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time.Strong commercial acumen and the ability to identify and elevate cross sector opportunities in line with the core business objectives.Excellent problem-solving skills and a lateral thinker.A genuine team player and desire to work collaboratively with the broader team.Tertiary Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Management or related.12 years communications experience, with 4 plus years' experience in a similar senior role.Balanced, practical and healthy: We are committed to creating a culture that embraces and enables you to live the lifestyle you want to. We are committed to a flexible workplace, this is a hybrid position based out of our Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne office, with two days working from home.
