Supervisor – Purchased Concentrate Smelting & Refining, Tech Services & Planning, Laboratory Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia Ref No. 102976 Mount Isa Mines is seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the role of Supervisor – Purchased Concentrate. Reporting to the Superintendent – Laboratory within the Tech Services & Planning team, you will be responsible for effectively managing staff to ensure the primary business needs of the laboratory purchased concentrate team are met. This challenging role will see you working closely with technical services and planning, quality control and assurance, marketing, and external trucking companies to ensure the analytical and reporting demands are met in an accurate and timely manner.
This is a Mount Isa residential position, and you will be required to work in accordance with a 5/2, day-shift roster.
You will be responsible for: Reporting data in a timely manner to the laboratory clients Ensuring the data release complies with the pre-set quality criteria Effectively communicating the routine maintenance requirements of equipment to ensure a high level of equipment up-time Maintaining an understanding of the operation, maintenance, and calibration of the analytical systems used within the team Regularly conforming to customers' pre-set turnaround times Verifying data and checking compliance of QC data Documenting compliance to sample prep quality procedures when requested Maintaining a clear understanding of general customer expectations Maintaining competency levels of staff as detailed by the competency chart system Managing staff labour coverage and compliance to mandatory training Ensuring the cross-training of staff is in place to cover the range of analysis and requirements when staff leave is in effect Managing staff sign-off and understanding of the laboratory RA's and JSEA's You will have the following: Tertiary Qualifications in Science or Chemistry desirable. Demonstrated experience in a similar role with at least 7 years. A strong knowledge of application of analytical chemistry in a mining environment A proficient knowledge of NATA Quality Management Systems A strong focus on implementing and monitoring QAQC protocols Experience with LIMS systems in particular Labware A focus on safety in the workplace Ability to work within a team environment. Excellent communication skills The ability to maintain relationships with delivery truck drivers, ISF supervisors, and production planning team A strong commitment to safety and the environment Manual driver's licence For further information, please contact: Leanne Kretschmann on 0439 875 396.
