About this part of our organisation:
Our Zinc Assets in Australia include multiple geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants, and port facilities. Additionally, we have operations across Asia, the American continents, and Europe. Mount Isa is home to the majority of our Zinc assets in Australia, and this role is based residentially in Mount Isa.
About your potential new position:
The Senior Sourcing Advisor is responsible for purchasing goods, materials, and services as assigned, in compliance with the requirements of the Delegated Authority Manual and established procurement policies and procedures. This role involves negotiation and management of purchase orders and contracts with both local and international suppliers to ensure that all business units have timely access to necessary goods and services at competitive prices. This will involve closely collaborating with internal customers to grasp the full scope of their needs and effectively leveraging third-party partners to fulfil those requirements.
To deliver on that purpose, some of your responsibilities will include:
Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of assigned goods, materials, and services and develop and maintain sources of supply. Assist and guide regarding pricing escalations and adjustments. Negotiation and Management: Negotiate favourable terms and conditions in purchase orders and contracts. Engage with local and international suppliers to secure optimal pricing and terms. Risk Management: Continuously assess and mitigate risks associated with sourcing activities to protect the organisation's interests. Ensure escalations, invoice price adherence, and budget compliance are properly reviewed. Compliance: Ensure all sourcing activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards, particularly the Delegated Authority Manual and procedures in the Contracts and Procurement Department. Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with reputable suppliers, contractors, and service providers. Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance communication and alignment with business objectives. Cost Optimisation: Participate in sourcing strategy development to contribute to overall profitability. Continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality. Reporting: Prepare regular reports for management, highlighting key achievements and areas for improvement. Meetings: Arrange and attend all meetings related to the functions such as progress meetings and provide inputs regarding the status of the function. Teamwork: Facilitate and present training sessions for end-users, ensuring proficiency in supply chain procedures and work collaboratively with your team to continually upskill, develop, and encourage. We will expect you to have:
Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Law, or a related field. Approximately five years or more experience in tactical sourcing and procurement. High computer literacy with complex procurement systems (We utilise SAP and Coupa). In-depth knowledge of procurement principles and best practices. Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
