About this position: Your primary purpose will be to ensure our processing, smelting and surface operations are informed of weather patterns and prevailing air quality conditions to enable control strategies to be activated to maintain safe and compliant levels.
This role will involve working with stakeholders in the Health Safety Environment and Community (HSEC) team and across the wider business.
Responsibilities: Working in the Air Quality Control Centre monitoring process control systems.
Regularly communicating with stakeholders about air quality conditions and weather patterns.
Studying weather forecasts and observations to prepare and present timely, accurate weather forecasts at a local level.
Developing and applying control strategies, systems, and processes.
Communicating conditions and decision reasoning to the smelting operations.
Identifying opportunities to improve the air quality control system.
Producing good air quality outcomes.
What we are looking for: Ideally, experience with air quality systems or air quality control.
Willingness to work a 24/7 continuous roster of 4:4 (days and nights).
Interest in weather patterns and Meteorological observation and assessment.
Critical thinking and logical decision-making abilities.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with others.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Highly regarded qualifications: Studies in science-related disciplines, environment, meteorology or similar.
Ability to collate and interpret data into understandable reports.
High-level knowledge and capability with computer systems.
Prior knowledge of smelter systems is valued but not essential.
Roster: The Air Quality team operates a morning and afternoon shift; you will work a 4 on 4 off day/night roster.
