About the Role Are you passionate about harnessing the power of geographic information systems (GIS) to drive impactful decisions?
Santos is seeking a GIS Data Specialist to play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and accessibility of spatial data and information across Santos, in support of internal user groups with business requirements, and provide a high quality, timely mapping service to all customers.
Key accountabilities include: To maintain, under guidance and within the bounds of the corporate spatial data strategy, spatial database systems using approved GIS software.Monitor surface spatial data within the company ensuring that security, currency and integrity of the data is maintained.Become proficient in all Santos GIS software platforms.Produce high quality maps and digital data outputs, that follow company standards, to various internal customers in support of the Company's Australian and International activities.Liaise with internal customers in a professional manner to clarify their requirements to provide the required business result in a timely manner.Prepare and dispatch datasets for external stakeholders through automated processing methods.About You To stand out in this role, we are looking for highly motivated candidates with the following essential experience:
Some experience with geospatial information systems (oil & gas industry preferred)Understanding of spatial data management theory and practice, data quality control, metadata, database operation, storage and use of spatial data.High level of computer literacy in specific technical software relating to GIS functions.It is essential that you have tertiary qualification in Environment Planning/Engineering, Surveying or associated discipline and/or relevant work/industry experience in GIS.
