Gis Applications Specialist

The GIS Applications Specialist will be a key enabler in delivering Council's goal of enhancing its data, analytics and mobility spatial capabilities across the organisation. The role will report to the Spatial Data Lead whose task is to raise the profile of spatial systems within Council and work closely with the business to improve data and analytics capability for the council. This role is to support the Spatial Data Lead in transforming platform Council's GIS. GIS 2.0 will renew and revolutionise Council's way of thinking and using GIS systems and data. With an emphasis on web-centric geospatial applications to internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will bring initiative and innovation to deliver a broad scope of GIS applications and deliverables to Council.Role:Responsible for delivering spatial data applications through ArcGIS Portal by consuming and/or developing datasets within Council or from external sources.Responsible for developing batch ingestion and data transformation routines using ETL tools (such as FME Desktop, Python, ModelBuilder) or other ingestion techniques.Present data in interactive graphs, charts, tables, etc. using ArcGIS Portal.Identify opportunities and champion initiatives to improve access to spatial data and applications within council and in the community.Support other projects by providing expertise in relation to spatial data capabilities and governance.Experience:Practical experience and skills in customising, implementing and administering ESRI web solutions to empower users with GIS tools and solutions (ideally 4+ years).Extensive knowledge and experience with the ESRI ecosystem:ArcGIS web platforms (Portal and AGOL).Mobility applications (FieldMaps, Survey123, Quick Capture).Desktop (ArcGIS Pro) and ESRI Extensions (3D Analyst, Spatial Analyst).Web Applications (Dashboards, Story Maps, Web App Builder).Enterprise Geodatabases.Strong experience and knowledge of multiple GIS data management systems along with the ability to manage, manipulate and integrate the spatial data within those systems for the benefit of Council.Extensive experience in data design, structure and analysis.Skills in automation of tasks and scripts using Python or FME will be highly regarded.Degree in related field of study or extensive industry work experience.On Offer:$55~$60 per hour.Immediate start.Initial term to end of 2024.Eastern suburbs location.
