We're changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change? The Project UGL and CPB Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of Copper String 2032.
This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid.
The project scope includes: 500 kilovolt (k V) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden 330k V transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry 220k V transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa, up to six new substation sites.
This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for a GIS Analyst to join the team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and switched-on GIS Analyst to join our team on the Copper String project.
Reporting to the Project GIS Manager, your key responsibilities will be the day-to-day upkeep of project GIS data, web/mobile mapping, and production mapping outputs.

What will a day in this role look like: Maintain the project's GIS data using a combination of automated and manual processes.
Ensure the project's online and offline GIS interfaces are kept up to date and relevant.
Produce cartographic and data outputs to share with project stakeholders, such as our client, contractors, and internal.
Work with data providers to ensure all incoming data is accurate, fit for purpose, and delivered on time.
Collaborate with the GIS manager and relevant stakeholders to optimize the way the project uses GIS, including GIS workflows, and data inputs and outputs.
Provide training and support to GIS users, as well as administering access to web and mobile mapping.
What are we looking for you to bring to the team: 3+ years' experience in GIS with at least 1 year in construction or 3+ years in construction with at least 1 year of GIS experience.
Experience with 2 D & 3 D CAD data and imagery/drone processing ideal.
Experience using and writing Python scripts, FME Workbenches, and SQL beneficial.
Auto CAD and Global Mapper experience beneficial.
Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Surveying, Engineering, Spatial Science, or similar.
A keen eye for detail and capacity to provide solutions to complex technical issues.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels across the Project.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands.
Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and Share Point.
