Database Development & Administration (Information & Communication Technology) Full time Perseus Mining is seeking a motivated and skilled Geoscientific Database Specialist to join our growing team in a newly created role, based at our Subiaco head office. Reporting to the Geoscientific Systems Manager, this role will focus on advancing our database system through the implementation of innovative technologies, automation processes, and proactive reviews ensuring that stakeholders across the business receive fit-for-purpose data.
This position plays a vital role in supporting our exploration and mining operations by capturing, processing, and managing subsurface and surface data for Perseus exploration and operational sites.
Key Responsibilities: Designing and creating automation to optimise data collection, validation, and management. Maintaining the acQuire GIM Suite solution. Identifying opportunities to improve exploration, resource development, and mine geology information management processes. Overseeing the improvement and ongoing management of geological databases and datasets. Assisting the Geoscientific Systems Manager with contract and contractor management. Liaising with in-country and corporate stakeholders to ensure high visibility and readily accessible data stored in the acQuire GIM Suite solution. Ensuring company QAQC standards are achieved and maintained. Mentoring in-country database geologists/administrators, geologists, and field technicians in database management processes. Developing and maintaining GIS databases and QGIS applications. About You To thrive in this role, you should possess a strong background in database management and automation, along with a solid understanding of processes and data in exploration and mining. Our ideal candidate will:
Have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the mining industry. Have at least 3 years of experience in database roles within the mining sector. Possess extensive experience using the acQuire GIM Suite as a Database Manager. Take ownership of the work and work autonomously. Be proficient in programming languages such as Python or C++ , with experience in software development methodologies and version control systems. Have a strong working knowledge of QAQC processes for sampling and analytical results. Have previous experience in project and team management. Demonstrate strong competency with SQL Server management and advanced SQL scripting. Have a track record of developing applications to facilitate data management. Exhibit high-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business. Have previous exposure to GIS solutions such as QGIS, MapInfo, and ArcGIS. Experience in supporting and training users, with strong attention to detail, time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Be willing to travel as needed to meet with in-country teams and support system implementation. It would be beneficial if you have: Experience in developing automated reports and dashboards. Familiarity with Microsoft automation tools and platforms (e.g., PowerAutomate). Experience using acQuire GIM Suite Arena . Experience with mining software such as Leapfrog , Surpac , or Micromine . Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS , Azure , or Google Cloud . Working proficiency in French . Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Computer Science or Geoscience . Certifications such as Microsoft Certified SQL Database Administrator , Advanced Level GIS User Certification , and Cloud Computing Certification . Where you'll be working This position is based in Perseus's Subiaco office, with a corporate team of roughly 40 employees and growing. You'll join a small corporate team, allowing for close interactions across all departments and levels of the business.
This role will require travel to our operations in Africa on a quarterly basis.
