Founded in 1954, as Jacobs Associates, Delve Underground is an employee-owned firm with 25 offices and 350 team members throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.The Delve Underground Sydney office has an immediate opening for an Engineering Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer with field experience. This site-based position will be to provide construction phase support for an iconic metro project in the heart of Sydney. The site-based role will be shift work, generally matching the construction shifts. The position will initially be considered on a Fixed-Term Employment Agreement for approximately 9-12 months. Your position will also be reviewed for potential full-time employment for future upcoming projects in Sydney and interstate.Responsibilities:Undertake geological mapping of tunnel and shaft excavationsRecord and log probe hole inspections and endoscope inspectionsCommunicate ground conditions to the technical lead and provide inputs into permit to tunnel meetingsMust be experienced in rock mass classifications, identifying potential wedges and spot boltingCompile geotechnical data for reportingCollate mapping and groundwater records and create summary sheetsContribute to the development, implementation and continued improvement of systems across our project team.Qualifications:Relevant tertiary degree (Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering) in Geology, Engineering Geology or Geotechnical Engineering1 to 3+ years of underground or surface geological mapping experience; experience with tunnelling, particularly Sydney tunnelling highly desirableDemonstrated ability/experience to complete a variety of field assignments such as geologic assessment, rock mapping and probe and endoscope hole inspections etc.Ability to work independently and integrated into a wider team in a construction environmentWell-developed communication skills and an ability to build and maintain relationships with the Contractor, site personnel, and internal staffHigh attention to detailAbility to identify and manage hazards and risks with a strong commitment to OHSE.ARE YOU READY TO JOIN OUR TEAM?Delve Underground focus on providing innovative, quality solutions to our clients that consistently meet or exceed time and budget parameters.Delve Underground is an Equal Opportunity Employer and embraces diversity.
