Our Next Geochemist…
The Geochemist role offers the opportunity to contribute technical expertise and guidance to a team of geoscientists, design engineers, and closure specialists. Through an integrated life-of-mine approach, you will play a vital role in delivering Okane's top-tier mine closure consulting services. This position is open to our Perth office.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Prepare and review geochemical application in technical documentation and reports.
Apply an advanced understanding in geochemical and hydrogeological principles to champion Okane's integrated closure service offering.
Provide geochemical and hydrogeological advice in regards to cover systems design, landform design, landform modelling and integrated mine planning.
Develop and manage sampling and analysis programs and laboratory testing programs.
Complete QA/QC checks on data captured by field monitoring systems and from laboratory testing programs.
Complete background information reviews to support the development of conceptual designs, plans and models.
Have a strong understanding of acid rock drainage (ARD) / acid and metalliferous drainage (AMD) processes and characterization methods.
Conceptualize and develop numerical geochemical models (e.g., PHREEQC and Geochemists Workbench) and interpret and apply the model results appropriately.
Understand key regulatory requirements for material characterization with respect to AMD.
Develop proposals to support our mining clients' project
Provide technical guidance, mentorship and leadership to staff.
Provide senior technical input to project teams ensuring core processes and technical standards are followed.
Leverage existing professional networks to pursue new leads, opportunities, and strategic partnerships.
Maintain effective client relationships and networks and generating opportunities.
Interact competently with internal and external stakeholders of varying levels of expertise.

Job Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in geosciences (geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, chemistry or similar).
Strong knowledge of all geochemical policies, procedures and legislative frameworks relative to mining and mine closure.
Strong knowledge of regulations, codes and standards including relevant professional procedures and practices.
Demonstrated full awareness of responsibility related to geochemical technical engineering.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Proven experience and ability to write and oversee professional proposal development as well as create and deliver effective presentations.
Possess leadership skills and abilities including: communication, accountability, honesty, empathy, creativity, responsibility and flexibility.
Evaluates financial, social and environmental impacts of closure visions and develops strategies to address resource issues.
