Hours Monday-Friday 8.30am-5pm About Us Bidgerdii Community Health Service is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.
Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions.
Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.
About the Role As a General Practitioner at Bidgerdii Community Health Service, you will report to the Clinic Manager and play a vital role in delivering comprehensive and culturally sensitive healthcare services to the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Delivering high-quality primary healthcare services including diagnosis, treatment, and management of medical conditions Demonstrating cultural sensitivity and respect for Aboriginal traditions and practices in healthcare delivery Managing chronic diseases and implementing evidence-based interventions to improve health outcomes Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care Prescribing medications and other treatments as necessary Providing best practice comprehensive primary health care optimising uptake and income generation across the service through MBS billings Providing leadership in the safety and quality of clinical services delivered by the health team Working in a multidisciplinary team environment with access to visiting allied health and specialist service responsible for demonstrating leadership in clinical quality, safety and fostering a culture of organisational reflection and continuous quality improvement Qualifications & Experience Qualification evidence as a Medical Practitioner MBBS, unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) Eligible to obtain a provider number Understanding (or ability to develop understanding) and commitment to the concept, philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Working knowledge of health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes Ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated skills in providing clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary setting Skills and experience in clinical teaching and health professional development Computer skills – able to work effectively with electronic client record systems, primarily Communicare Practical Requirements Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine-preventable diseases: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, and pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment Current CPR and First Aid Certificate Current Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card - essential How to Apply Click 'Apply Now' to submit your application and please include: Your current CV or resume, including referees A short 1 - 2 page cover letter outlining how your experience, abilities and knowledge align with the organisational values and role requirements Please note pre-employment checks will be carried out on successful applicants recommended for employment which may include confirming your qualifications, professional registration/s, previous employment history (including any previous disciplinary action), police criminal history check, Australian work status and vaccination requirements.
