About Us Headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12–25-year-olds. The service is designed to make it as easy as possible for a young person and their family to get the help they need for problems affecting their wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, vocational support, and alcohol and other drug services. The Opportunity Our experienced General Practitioner (GP) will provide direct clinical practice to young people and their families as part of a collaborative and holistic model of care, in an environment that encourages the development of ongoing and therapeutic relationships with clients and multidisciplinary case consultation. This is a fixed term part-time role ending 30th June 2025 operating from Monday to Thursday on both our Caboolture and Bribie Island headspace centres. The successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for establishing, reviewing, and evaluating processes and safety systems for general practice (e.g., recalls/reminders, management of abnormal and clinically significant results) whilst applying Medicare bulk billing scheme to clients including young people under 16 years old. Essential Qualifications & Requirements Ongoing full and unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), as a Specialist or Specialist and General Registration. A medical degree from a registered tertiary institution acceptable by AHPRA for registration in Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine or equivalent including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration. Professional indemnity insurance. Be eligible for / or currently registered with Medicare. Hold current 'C' class Open drivers' licence, Working with Children Check issued by the relevant State or Territory, or be eligible to apply for, a Licensed Care Suitability Check issued by the Department of Child Safety, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs. High level knowledge and understanding of youth mental health, evidence-based interventions and clinical practice, as well as demonstrated excellence in the practical application of such, in the areas of youth mental health and alcohol and drug use. Highly developed communication (including written) and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with young people, advocate on their behalf and establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, young people, families/carers/kin and stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to source, analyse, and disseminate best practice approaches, current literature, and research in relation to General Practice and Youth Health to Youturn staff. Demonstrated ability to create Mental Health Care Plans for internal and external referrals while keeping accurate and timely records of patient care using the headspace electronic patient record and data collection systems. Demonstrated ability to provide secondary consultation to members of the multi-disciplinary team and liaise with clinical staff as appropriate (e.g., case conferences). Demonstrated ability to promote programs, communicate regularly with and build and maintain collaborative working relationships with program partners and all relevant stakeholders in the program. Knowledge and understanding of local youth mental health stakeholders and key relationships in these sectors. Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a GP in general practice. Formal accreditation and registrations to supervise GP registrars. We care about you!
