Position Description:
The Practice aims to provide the highest quality primary comprehensive medical care, as courteously and efficiently as possible, to individuals, families and communities. The General Practitioner provides a range of health services from prevention of illness, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The practice cares for all age groups of patients. They look after boarding school children, aboriginal patients through the CTG scheme and have a high elderly population. The town has a high chronic disease burden. The position requires consultation with other health professionals internally (e.g. Nurse) and externally (e.g. specialist & allied Health) with care being coordinated by the General Practitioner. The General Practitioners also assist patients and the community by providing ongoing education, participating in health promotion, conducting research and assisting training of students, registrars, colleagues and other health professionals.

Qualifications & Experience:
AHPRA Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Previous experience in General Practice
CPR certificate
Continuing professional development through RACGP – QA & CPD or ACRRM
Open to applicants with valid authority to work in Australia.

Temporary / Contract
Hours:
Full Time - 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am – 12noon

After Hours Requirements:
Yes - 1 weekday on call and potentially 1 weekend on call

AboutCharters Towers:
Gold City Medical Centre is in Charters Towers which is situated inland in the Burdekin River Valley, about 130kms southwest from the coastal port of Townsville via the Flinders Highway. Charters Towers is at an altitude of 336 metres has an excellent climate – clear, semi-arid, sunlit winter days and cool to warm summer evenings. Charters Towers is a heritage city of approximately 10,000 people and about 2,000 of that represents the students at the three major boarding colleges in town (P-12). There are also 3 state primary schools and 1 state high school. The city services a large gold mining industry and a very large beef cattle industry including may home-stay properties. Charters Towers has many amenities including a first class theatre, gym, tennis clubs, golf course, netball, soccer, league and rugby clubs. The Burdekin River offers fishing, canoeing and camping for an outdoor lifestyle, a short drive away to the Burdekin Dam caters for water skiing and fishing enthusiasts.
