The opportunity:
As a leader in the Fitness industry, Fitness & Lifestyle Group is excited to be seeking a General Manager to lead Zap Fitness through its next phase of growth and success.
Reporting to the CEO of Fitness & Lifestyle Group Australia and New Zealand ("FLG ANZ"), this is a rare opportunity to join the FLG ANZ Executive Team and become a partner in a diverse, expanding global organisation with limitless opportunities to thrive and achieve. The newly installed General Manager of Zap Fitness will take responsibility for leading the brand by driving existing club performance as well as taking leadership over a significant expansion of the current network in the coming 12 – 24 months.
The successful candidate will have a relentless customer focus coupled with a strong track record in sales, retention and P&L ownership, with an ability to balance near-term operational management with longer-term growth and strategic objectives.

You will have a passion for fitness, demonstrated through your prior success as a senior leader in the industry. You will have significant multi-site leadership experience within a leading customer–facing business and will be excited to use your insight and commercial acumen to propel Zap Fitness to further success.
The role is based in one of FLG's east coast office hubs (Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide), but as the leader of a truly national business, you will be willing to travel interstate regularly to allow you to maintain full visibility and team engagement across our club network.
Key Responsibilities Operations
• Drive/oversee strong team performance against budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility to achieve agreed financial targets;
• Lead the development of the Operations and Performance teams' annual budget, ensuring delivery of revenue & budget targets through appropriate management of expenses;
• Collaborate with the Executive Team to maintain effective internal stakeholder relationships and assist in driving effective and efficient results across functions;
• Innovate and develop best practice sales initiatives and pricing decisions that drive growth throughout the business and maximise Zap market competitiveness;
• Foster and develop relationships with external key stakeholders on co-operative funding and co-branded sales opportunities to achieve revenue forecasts;
• Effectively drive new club openings to achieve designated member targets by driving appropriate sales and marketing activities.
People
• Provide your team with clear, consistent and constant communications on the key strategic direction of the business;
• Lead the development of state and regional sales and operations management teams;
• Develop effective succession planning at all levels within the Division;
• Actively encourage and participate in activities to enhance cross-functional teamwork between all parts of the organisation;
• Support the management of underperforming areas of the business, regions, and individual business units.
Administration & Reporting
• Utilise comprehensive reporting from FLG Finance to accurately gauge the performance of the teams and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications and Experience: Essential
• 10-15+ years' experience in a national, or state (ideally multi-state) operational leadership role (for a customer facing enterprise)
• Senior leadership experience in the fitness industry
• Experience developing long-term business growth strategies, and balancing these with shorter term tactical execution
• Experience with property management including landlord negotiation, overseeing facilities maintenance, refits and establishing new outlets
• Experience with opening new sites, including a demonstrable pre-sale track record
• Strong commercial acumen including go-to-market, sales and retention
• P&L ownership
• Developing and leading a team of high performing individuals.
