Role Outline Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) covers 125,243 square km and provides public health services to approximately 245,000 people across the Riverina, Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area and the South Western Slopes of NSW. As the largest employer in the region, MLHD employ over 5,000 staff working across 33 hospitals and 12 community health centres. Wagga Wagga is the largest regional city in NSW, nestled on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. 
The Wagga Wagga Health Service provides 24-hour accident and emergency care through the 325 bed Wagga Wagga Base Hospital (WWBH). The $431m redevelopment of the hospital has recently been completed and provides contemporary and integrated health services accommodating a wide range of public health services for the community. WWBH employs over 1,500 staff and operates to a budget of $235m. Due to recent changes, the decision has been made to appoint a new General Manager. 
The GM will lead clinical service delivery and determine operational priorities across WWBH by setting service delivery goals and performance measures to ensure that service delivery strategies are aligned to MLHD objectives. The GM will provide leadership on all matters related to the administration and operation of WWBH including governance, finance, quality, workforce and the day-to-day management of the facility. As a key leader in MLHD and the community, the GM will contribute to the development of strategic and business plans, policy development, business and clinical service strategies and relationship management. 
The GM will foster a contemporary culture which supports education, research and professional development and ultimately delivers world class patient care. The GM will work closely with the MLHD executive leadership team, NSW Ministry of Health, other LHDs, Aboriginal and community groups, local government and a range of other stakeholders.
About you We are ideally seeking an experienced hospital and health service leader / GM / Deputy GM or equivalent with a track record across a complex hospital or health service. You will demonstrate significant achievement across a broad spectrum of areas including clinical operations, strategic planning and delivery, workforce management, clinical governance, and patient safety. You will display outstanding leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders. First class engagement skills across all levels of the medical, nursing, and allied health professions as well as across the broad patient community is also a critical aspect of this role.

Describe your recent hospital or health service leadership experience and outline how you improved clinical and financial performance whilst enhancing culture.Describe your experience leading a large system improvement program engaging and influencing key internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key outcomes. Tertiary qualifications in Health Management and/or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, experience and training. Demonstrated extensive experience in a senior management level in a substantial and complex organisation engaged in service delivery and an understanding of the health system clinical governance processes. This is an ongoing full time, Band 1, Health Service Senior Executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $225,740 to $249,843 per annum, will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Relocation assistance is available.
