Reporting to the EGM Service Futures and also working closely with the Managing Director, the General Manager, Urban Planning and Development is responsible for effective and compliant delivery of strategic and statutory town planning and greenfield and brownfield drainage and floodplain management, building and asset surveying, quantity surveying and environmental, civil, construction and quality assurance engineering.
The individual in this role will be a subject matter expert and support council SBO and LSIO planning scheme amendments, as well as ensuring technical standards frameworks are in place.
As a Melbourne Water ambassador, the General Manager, Urban Planning and Development will also advocate on external forums.
In order to be successful in this role, you will demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: urban and/or town planning, urban and/or regional planning law and practice, and civil and/or land engineering.
You will have the ability to manage leaders of services in the planning and development industry, strong commercial acumen, and demonstrate the mindset and behaviour of a senior leader.
Membership of relevant professional bodies and tertiary qualifications in urban planning, civil engineering or an equivalent discipline will be highly regarded.
