THE ROLE An exciting new opportunity exists for a highly experienced General Manager Transport & Logistics to join the Hallett Group. The role will ensure the safe operation and compliance of the transport and logistics business, whilst driving its profitability, optimising capacity/efficiencies and delivering change to support growth across the business. To be successful in this role you will have an uncompromising commitment to safety, service the needs of internal and external customers, whilst building and maintaining a productive working relationship with direct reports and stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Driving a genuine commitment to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement for a diverse team comprising compliance, training, customer service, operations and allocations employees. Optimising the interface between road, rail and shipping logistics. Leading transport capability development and procurement strategy with a focus on high-capacity PBS vehicles. Implementing and monitoring improvement projects (including identifying opportunities to generate new business and for continuous improvement). Creating supply chain strategies that increase efficiencies and speed of responsiveness. Developing, implementing and maintaining a fit for purpose operating model for delivery of construction materials products safely, on time and in full. Establishing customer service centre procedures, processes and systems. Working hand in hand with the sales team to drive new sales of our products through innovative and collaborative transport solutions. Optimising transport loaded Km' and efficiency, whilst ensuring Driver compliance with National Heavy Vehicle Regulations. Leading focus on safety, cost management and business growth for transport fleet. Establishing strategic sourcing to maintain pipeline of labour for the long-term including training and assessment of all drivers across transport and concrete. QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE | CAPABILITIES Qualifications in Business Management or Supply Chain (essential). Previous experience leading, managing and motivating a team (essential). A minimum 10 years' experience in transport supply chain management (essential). Demonstrated understanding of National Heavy Vehicle Regulations (NHVR) (essential). Demonstrated understanding of Mass Management, Chain of Responsibility and Fatigue Management, People leadership & customer management (essential). A current/valid Drivers Licence (essential).
