General Manager Strategic Policy and Partnerships, SES Band 1 The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (the Reef Authority) is responsible for the long-term protection, ecologically sustainable use, understanding, and enjoyment of the Great Barrier Reef for all Australians and the international community. The Reef Authority leads in developing and implementing policies, plans, and programs to protect biodiversity, and in building capacity through partnerships and education. The organisation is currently focused on synthesising knowledge to guide innovation, adaptive management, and ecologically sustainable use.
As the General Manager, Strategic Policy and Partnerships, you will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for the Reef Authority's strategic policy and partnerships activities, including stakeholder consultation and engagement, and the leadership and management of key strategic policy and governance functions.
You will also be a key member of the Executive Management Group, providing guidance and contributing to wider organisational management, risk management, and policy development. You will support other Senior Executive Service colleagues in the collective stewardship of the Reef Authority. Additionally, you will provide high-level advice to the Minister, Marine Park Authority Board, and Chief Executive Officer on issues affecting the Marine Park and the Reef Authority's operating environment. Representing the Reef Authority at local, national, and international forums, you will establish productive relationships to enhance organisational effectiveness.

You will have strong leadership credentials and an ability to engender trust and respect complemented by sound judgment and the ability to solve complex issues and build organisational capability.
Townsville is the preferred location for the position, but we will consider Cairns or Canberra where the agency also has offices.
Eligibility requirements & qualifications Applicants must: be an Australian citizen at the time of applying for position, be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance, failure to do so will result in termination of employment. Relevant qualifications and/or senior level experience in government and/or the private sector leading complex and diverse teams. Experience in providing advice and guidance to a Board, Ministers(s), or similarly senior decision-makers.
