This organisation is an independent franchisee of a global transport and logistics business, with branches across Queensland, NSW, and Victoria.
As the General Manager, you will drive the strategic direction for the region, ensuring alignment to the organisation's objectives and operating model.
You will be responsible for the operational and P&L performance of the business, overseeing Finance, HR, IT, Operations, OHS, Sales, Customer Service, and Administration, leading these teams to success.
You will work closely with the owner/director, the finance team, and third-party legal and HR service providers to ensure the smooth operation and growth of the business.
Your ability to provide strong leadership, maintain a robust safety focus (particularly in transport and logistics), and build cohesive teams will be essential to your success.
Additionally, you will provide overall direction and mentorship to each Branch Manager, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Your Key Responsibilities: Collaborating with other regions to improve overall business commercial outcomes.Acting as a point of escalation for key customer contacts in the event of operational issues.Identifying key operational weaknesses with your team and implementing effective solutions.Ensuring driver compliance with chain of responsibility, OH&S, and Road Safety requirements.Overseeing the management of driver and vehicle presentation standards to ensure compliance.Driving safety practices in the workplace, focusing on hazard management, safety discussions, and general safety awareness.Developing and training staff across all levels of the organisation.Managing partnerships with other regional carriers and partners.Developing, managing, and sustaining professional business relationships.Achieving operational P&L expectations and exceeding budgeted revenue and profit goals.Setting strong targets and consistent measurements to maximise productivity.Maintaining and improving service excellence across all branches.Effectively implementing business strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.Building cohesive teams and providing overall direction and mentorship to Branch Managers.What You Will Bring to the Role: A minimum of 5 years of management experience in developing and leading high-performing teams within the transport/logistics industries.A strong understanding of the overall operations within a transport/logistics branch.Excellent working knowledge of scheduling, warehousing, and fleet control.Demonstrated commercial acumen with robust knowledge of profit and loss reporting.
You will identify ways for the business to exceed budget KPIs and implement strategic initiatives with a strong focus on cost control.A proactive approach to safety, promoting a positive and safe environment where team members feel empowered to voice concerns.Exceptional leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams, fostering a high-performing and resilient culture.The ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively, execute effective decisions, and demonstrate strong conflict resolution skills.Highly developed communication skills and strong emotional intelligence to drive change, set strategic direction, and improve commercial outcomes.Strong verbal and written communication skills, with sound industrial relations knowledge.The ability to build and maintain a collaborative relationship with the owner/director, finance team, and third-party service providers.Why Join Us?
