Drive revenue growth for Hunter Rugby Be a driving force in the local rugby resurgence Work closely with clubs to elevate the player experience Hunter Rugby is one of Australia's oldest rugby union organisations, with a history dating back to the mid 19th century. It boasts the largest 15s women's competition in NSW and is the biggest rugby zone outside of Sydney. As one of Australia's oldest rugby organisations, Hunter Rugby has a rich history, and now, we're looking for a General Manager who can help shape its future.
This role is a two-part game plan: First, drive revenue growth for Hunter Rugby; second, help grow the game itself.
Build and Grow Revenue: Deliver a return on investment for new partners and revenue annually. Secure long-term, sustainable partnerships to mitigate the risk of losing key sponsors. Identify and develop income-generating assets for Hunter Rugby to build or acquire. Create and implement indigenous programs, working closely with clubs and the community on recruitment and retention. Government Relations and Major Events: Collaborate with clubs to enhance the player experience and develop recruitment and retention programs. Provide regular updates and reports to relevant government and rugby governing bodies on Hunter Rugby's progress. Work with clubs and councils to secure long-term rugby assets across the region to support the game's expansion. Secure prestigious events like the NSW Country Championships to showcase rugby and generate positive revenue. International Relations and Major Events: Partner with councils, Venues NSW, and other bodies to bring top-level rugby games and teams to the region. Identify long-term strategic partnerships with international companies and unions for player and referee exchanges. Promote local talent for selection in both the men's and women's Rugby World Cups. Schools Strategy: Collaborate with Development Officers and junior programs to support school rugby initiatives. Develop strategies to retain players as they transition from schools to clubs, juniors to colts or seniors, and colts to seniors. ABOUT YOU You're a seasoned professional with a strong commercial background rooted in the sporting community. Your sharp business acumen and strategic mindset allow you to confidently engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, from rugby club representatives and governing bodies like NSW Rugby and Country Rugby to local councils and community partners. With experience in overseeing major events, you have the leadership skills and vision to drive success both on and off the field, ensuring the club thrives in every aspect.
