Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) is responsible for planning, investing, and overseeing research, development, and extension for the grains sector in Australia.
They meet the evolving needs of grain growers with a vision to be regarded as the grower's "RD&E department." GRDC believes it should be a valued grower asset that is open, transparent, and trusted - a true research partner who seeks to be agile and business like in their operations and improve productivity and profitability for growers.


The Position GRDC is seeking a General Manager - Finance & Operations, with overall responsibility for the leadership of the finance, IT, and digital functions.
This is a genuine leadership position shaping and reviewing both financial and company strategy, supporting both the MD and Board, while developing and leading a substantial team.

With a considerable investment portfolio that continues to grow, you will play a vital function to gather intelligence to assess and report on GRDC's financial position and investments.
The role additionally oversees the business-critical teams of information technology and digital initiatives that aim to improve productivity and build capacity for the future.

The overarching responsibilities include:
Management and leadership of staff, budgets, and activities associated with the finance, IT, and digital teams, including board engagement.Provide high-level strategic advice to the Managing Director and Board relating to GRDC delivering on its purpose in areas of responsibilityAccountable for ensuring GRDC's effective financial operations and financial reporting as the Chief Finance OfficerAccountable for the provision of a fit for purpose and innovative IT platform that enables the businesses to deliver on purpose. The Person This is a high profile, key leadership position in the Australian grains industry.
We are keen to hear from you if you currently sit at executive level and possess the following background, key skills, and attributes:
Exceptional leadership of finance teams and functions in a complex and ideally investment environmentCPA or CA qualifications considered essentialPrevious CFO experience at a senior level generating P&L and balance sheet accuracyProven ability to build, lead, and motivate high performing teamsKnowledge and experience in strategically leading IT projects of a business to improve efficiency and productivityStrong analytical skills and the capacity to leverage off external expertise and think strategically, including the ability to provide sound project and issue adviceHighly developed presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and develop othersStrategic thinker with the ability to undertake financial prosecution, present meaningful data, influence, and debate corrective actions within the business and deliver well-formed decision makingHigh attention to detail and capacity to assess and solve complex challengesHands on, with a can-do approach combined with high levels of resilience
