General/Business Unit Manager (CEO & General Management) Select Events Australia is a fast-growing Dynamic Event and Exhibition company servicing a range of sectors in the Corporate, Community, Sporting, Venue, and private event space.
We are seeking a mature motivated manager to assist in growing the overall business unit. We need a lateral thinker with strong negotiation skills and a desire to succeed. The person will be a self-starter who has the ability to lead a team and expand the potential of the business.
Job Brief We are looking for a General Manager for our Regional Canberra Events and Exhibition business to oversee all staff, budgets, and operations of the local business unit. General Manager responsibilities include formulating overall strategy, managing people, and ensuring policies are monitored and managed. To be successful in this role, you should be a considered leader and a confident decision-maker, helping our people develop and be productive while ensuring that we meet both our budget and profit targets.

Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations. Design strategy and set goals for growth. Maintain budgets and optimize expenses. Set policies and processes. Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally. Oversee recruitment and training of new employees. Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance. Direct the employee assessment process. Prepare regular reports for senior management. Ensure staff adhere to OHS Policies. Provide solutions to issues (e.g., profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors, operational issues). Requirements and Skills Proven experience as a General Manager or similar executive role. Experience in planning and budgeting. Knowledge of business processes and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations, etc.). Strong analytical ability. Outstanding organizational and leadership skills. Problem-solving aptitude.
