The Opportunity The General Manager will lead the operations of Calvary Hobart, including Calvary Lenah Valley and Calvary St Johns Hospitals, ensuring the effective and efficient provision of coordinated, high-quality healthcare services that align with Calvary's strategic objectives, policies, and values. Reporting to the Regional CEO, the General Manager will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing leadership team, overseeing the hospital's financial and operational performance, and implementing continuous service improvements to ensure sustainable, patient-focused care that reflects Calvary's mission.
Key responsibilities of the General Manager include:
Leading and supporting a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative culture aligned with Calvary's values.Developing and implementing strategies to promote and position the hospitals as an integrated service within the local community.Overseeing financial stewardship, including managing budgets and improving cost-effectiveness, while ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.Ensuring the delivery of high-quality care while maintaining accreditation and adhering to the Calvary Clinical Governance Framework.Representing Calvary in the local community and engaging with stakeholders, promoting Calvary's values and mission within the healthcare sector.Promoting consumer participation through relevant forums and maintaining strong relationships with health professionals. About You We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader with proven expertise in operational management, business development, and stakeholder engagement. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to Calvary's mission, leading significant change processes and driving operational excellence to achieve strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in managing complex healthcare operations, with strong financial acumen and the ability to foster effective relationships, particularly in union and government environments. Your hands-on approach will be key in managing diverse teams, fostering growth, and ensuring operational efficiency across clinical and non-clinical areas.
A genuine commitment to long-term leadership within the Tasmanian healthcare system is essential, as is a focus on delivering people-centered care, driving continuous improvement, and identifying and fostering new business opportunities for organisational growth.
