With a focus on sustainable growth for the community within its environmental and financial means, the region is located approximately an hour's drive from the Adelaide CBD, with connectors including the Northern Expressway, Gawler Bypass, and the Thiele Highway.
Reporting to a highly engaged CEO and part of a collaborative Executive Leadership Team, this diverse role will oversee the Finance, Organisational Development, and Information Systems Services Teams.
As the 'chief financial officer' for Council, this key role will: Lead the development of Council's financial strategies and its performance measurement system.
Ensure the creation and implementation of the strategic management plan.
Help drive business innovation and systems efficiencies.
Flexibly lead, inspire, and develop team capability and capacity, providing high-level guidance as required.
Manage and mitigate strategic risks and ensure the safety of employees.
With highly developed written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to pivot between hands-on and strategic functions, this role will appeal to an experienced, aspiring leader ready for their first GM role or a seasoned professional looking for an exciting broad role close to the action and community.
Ideally, a qualified accountant or senior finance manager with demonstrable relevant financial experience, you will have an adaptive and engaging leadership style, be resilient, highly computer literate, and thrive in a role overseeing areas that may be outside of your core specialization.
Local government experience will be well regarded but not essential.
