General Manager - Business Advisory & Member Relations Business Chamber Queensland is seeking a strategic, commercial leader for the newly created role of General Manager – Business Advisory & Member Relations. This key strategic role will have overall responsibility for the membership and customer growth strategy as well as driving the ongoing value we offer our members and all businesses across Queensland. This role acts as a critical commercial leader to manage ongoing operations as well as seeking out new opportunities to support Queensland businesses in a fast-evolving future.

The opportunity Reporting directly to the CEO and as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will lead a dynamic and purpose-driven team of specialists whilst leveraging intel from across the broader business. This is a key strategic role that acts as a critical commercial leader to manage ongoing operations as well as working with your peers to seek out new opportunities.
As a highly customer-focused leader, you will adopt and implement the latest approaches and technologies to support our members and businesses and always seek new opportunities to develop relevant and timely products and services for the Queensland business community.
Your ingenuity and leadership ability will see you succeed in setting up and delivering the newly established business advisory function which will provide practical solutions to support businesses with their day-to-day business needs as well as providing support so that they can thrive into the future.
About you You will have the following skills and experience:
Tertiary qualification(s) in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline. Master's degree level preferred. Demonstrated successful senior leadership in a complex organisation with demonstrated business skills, sales aptitude and commercial acumen, having successfully driven business growth and achieved targeted results. Strong business acumen and commercial thinking with experience in diversifying revenue streams. An understanding of growing a membership or customer base, including an understanding of measures which have been effective in encouraging participation. A strong focus on customer experience. An understanding of the business landscape in Queensland, and an awareness of the opportunities and challenges. Very confident negotiation and influencing skills. Experience in project management and grant management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong and respectful relationships with members, partners, and stakeholders. Proven experience in leading and developing high-performing teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data and insights to inform decision making and drive performance improvement. Knowledge of industry and government trends and developments. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous and changing environment as well as the ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Transformational leadership skills, coupled with interpersonal skills and judgement with a history of success in inspiring confidence and trust in staff, members, stakeholders, and other organisations. Experience in advisory or consulting strategy, management, and delivery, with a proven track record of establishing and growing a multifaceted advisory team. What's in it for you?
