An exciting opportunity for a General Counsel to join a high profile organisation.Your new companyAn interesting and exciting opportunity has arisen within a privately owned organisation with large and specialised facilities in a flagship precinct within Canberra. This organisation prides itself on its culture and unique working environment. Nationally, they develop large greenfield and brownfield sites for commercial usage and then ensure the presentation, maintenance and compliance of relevant Australian Standards are applied to all assets within the company. The General Counsel vacancy is a crucial senior role which will provide influence across multiple areas of the business.Your new roleReporting in to the CFO and the executive board, as the General Counsel you will be providing strategic legal guidance and support to the executive team and senior managers. You will oversee all legal matters, with a strong emphasis on commercial and property law, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and mitigating legal risks.Your key responsibilities will be:Provide expert legal advice on commercial contracts, property transactions, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.Support the drafting, review, and negotiating complex commercial and property agreements.Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures.Lead and manage the legal team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.Represent the company in legal proceedings and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.Stay abreast of legislative changes and ensure the company's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
